SENSEI DAVE GALLOWAY 5TH DAN

Karate Career

Dave Galloway began his training in 1993 at Portsmouth Karate Club under the guidance of Sensei Mick Dewey 8th Dan and Sensei Stacey Crowe 6th Dan, of The Shotokan of England Karate Union.  Dave was a former international competitor and SEKU squad team captain having competed throughout England, Ireland, Wales, France, Holland and Slovakia.

On home soil Dave was two time winner of the Portsmouth Invitations, five time consecutive SEKU Nationals Shobu Ippon kumite champion between 2005 and 2010, also Shobu Ippon kumite champion, Legends kumite champion and overall best male competitor.

 

Overseas Dave has had success in the Slovakia Open as -78kg kumite champion in 2003.  Then in 2010 at the pinnacle of his competition career achieving bronze in the -68kg kumite before going on to win Gold in the SKDUN World Championships in the open weight Shobu Ippon kumite. This success was recognized in the same year when Dave was runner-up in the Portsmouth News Sportsman of the year and runner-up Hampshire and IOW Sports Partnership Sportsman of the year.

 

Career Achievements

Co-founded South Downs Karate Club in 2011 and Co-founded the AKA in 2014.  Fully qualified PGCE Teaching Degree from Portsmouth University and BSc Degree in Sports Studies from Southampton University.  Insured and DBS checked, Emergency First Aid trained as well as Sports Coach UK Child Protection and Equity in Coaching trained.
